Terms & Conditions

Last Update : September 2026

In these terms, “Royal Watch”, “we” and “us” refer to the business identified in the Company Information section below.

These terms govern purchases from www.royalwatch.co.za and use of our website. Please read the listing for the particular item, including its condition and included accessories, before placing an order. Your rights under applicable consumer law take precedence over any inconsistent part of these terms.

1. Products, descriptions and availability

We sell new and pre-owned watches and may also offer other luxury goods. A product listing describes the particular item, its price, whether it is new or pre-owned, and the accessories or documents included. Read that listing carefully; the condition and warranty terms for a watch do not automatically apply to another category of goods.

We aim to describe products accurately. When a listing identifies photographs as photographs of the actual item, they form part of its description. Manufacturer or illustrative images may be used where identified as such. Colours and scale may differ slightly between screens. Contact us before purchase if a measurement or particular detail is important to you.

Stock, especially a unique pre-owned item, is subject to availability. We will not substitute a different item without your agreement. If we cannot supply your order, we will inform you promptly and refund any payment within the time required by law.

2. Authenticity, accessories and provenance

We guarantee that watches sold as genuine branded watches are authentic. Watches are tested when acquired and again before sale. If a watch's performance has changed and is outside acceptable limits, our watchmaker will inspect it and undertake any necessary intervention to bring it within acceptable limits before sale.

If you have a reasoned concern about authenticity, email us with your order details and supporting information. We will investigate, arrange appropriate assessment where needed, and provide the remedy required by law if the watch was misrepresented.

An original manufacturer box, papers, warranty card, manual, spare links, tags, certificates or service records are included only if the listing expressly says so. A Royal Watch box or document is not an original manufacturer item. We will disclose any material replacement or aftermarket component known to us and will not describe it as an original manufacturer component.

3. Pre-owned watches

A pre-owned watch may show signs of age and use, such as scratches, marks, polishing, bracelet stretch or strap wear. We aim to disclose material known imperfections. The disclosed condition, age, price and ordinary purpose of the particular watch are relevant when considering what quality may reasonably be expected of it. Disclosure of wear does not remove your rights concerning an undisclosed defect or a misleading description.

Bracelet and strap sizes vary and spare links may not be included. Please ask us to confirm the fit before ordering if this matters to you. Any stated production year or age is based on information reasonably available to us, such as papers or reference details. Where we say “estimated” or “approximate”, it is not a guaranteed production date.

4. Water resistance

We do not guarantee the water resistance of pre-owned watches unless an express, current guarantee is stated for the particular watch. A rating marked on an older watch or appearing in its original manufacturer specifications does not establish its present resistance. Seals and components can deteriorate with age or servicing. Have a pre-owned watch appropriately tested before exposing it to water. This clause does not excuse an inaccurate product description or limit a statutory right.

5. Prices and tax

Prices are displayed in South African rand and include VAT where applicable. Delivery and other applicable charges are shown before checkout is completed. A change in the website price after an order is accepted will not change that order's agreed price.

If we discover a material listing or pricing error, we will notify you promptly. We may offer the correct details for your agreement or cancel and refund the order where lawful. We will never charge a higher price without your agreement, and this provision does not override your rights concerning price displays under South African law.

For an international order, the South African tax treatment depends on the actual export arrangement and applicable law. A VAT-inclusive price is not automatically reduced because a buyer lives outside South Africa.

6. Orders and payment

Before submitting an online order, you can review the items, price, delivery charge and details entered and correct errors. We send an electronic acknowledgement when your order is submitted. An automated acknowledgement does not itself confirm that a unique item remains in stock or that payment is successful. We will confirm acceptance or dispatch after checking the order, subject to the legal rules governing the conclusion of electronic agreements.

We may request reasonable identity and payment verification for a high-value order. We may decline or cancel an order for a legitimate reason such as unavailable stock, failed payment, suspected fraud or a material error, subject to applicable law. We will tell you and refund any amount due.

The payment methods available to you are shown at checkout and may include EFT, cards and supported payment providers such as PayFast, Payflex, PayJustNow and Mobicred. EFT payments are made to Connected Devices (Pty) Ltd. Payments processed through the listed providers may appear as Royal Watch on your payment record. A provider's own terms may also apply to an instalment or credit facility; your statutory rights relating to a linked agreement remain intact. Confirm bank details with us through our published contact details if you receive an unexpected request to change them.

7. Delivery and collection

Subject to availability, cleared payment and any necessary verification, we aim to dispatch within 1–5 business days unless a listing states a different timeframe. Dispatch is not the same as delivery. The available delivery options, costs and estimated delivery time are shown at checkout or agreed with you. We will tell you about a material delay and respect your applicable delivery and cancellation rights.

We deliver to a physical address, not a PO box. Domestic shipments are insured and require a signature and proof of identity at delivery. Please provide accurate delivery details and ensure that you or an authorised recipient can accept the parcel. We will deal reasonably with additional delivery costs resulting from an incorrect address or failed delivery attributable to the recipient.

We bear the risk of loss or damage during delivery until the goods are accepted by you or your authorised recipient, unless another lawful arrangement is expressly agreed. If a parcel appears damaged, contact us promptly and retain its packaging and photographs if possible. Late notification alone does not extinguish a statutory right. Collection is by appointment at our Rosebank address. We may verify the identity and authority of the collector; risk passes when the goods are handed over.

8. International orders

International delivery is available worldwide on request, subject to our acceptance of the destination, courier arrangement and any legal restrictions. We will confirm shipping charges and the estimated timeframe before accepting the arrangement. The recipient is responsible for applicable destination-country customs duties, taxes, permits and clearance charges unless we expressly agree otherwise. Customs clearance can delay delivery. We declare goods and their value accurately and do not describe purchases as gifts. Please contact us promptly if a shipment is held, refused or returned so we can arrange a lawful and fair resolution. Mandatory rights that apply in the destination country are not excluded.

9. Change-of-mind returns and online cooling-off rights

Royal Watch offers a 48-hour change-of-mind return period from receipt of a watch. Contact info@royalwatch.co.za within that period with your order number. Subject to the applicable law and the condition and contents of the returned order, we can arrange a refund, exchange or store credit in accordance with our Returns Policy. For this voluntary return benefit, any applicable restocking charge must be communicated and applied lawfully. Promotional, clearance or final-sale terms may limit a voluntary return benefit, but do not remove a mandatory legal right.

Online purchases may carry a longer statutory right. For a qualifying electronic transaction under the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (ECTA), a consumer may cancel without reason or penalty within seven days after receiving the goods. The only charge permitted under that cooling-off provision is the direct cost of returning the goods. A restocking fee does not apply when that statutory right is exercised. Payment must be refunded within 30 days of cancellation as required by ECTA. Statutory exceptions apply only where the law actually provides for them; an item is not excluded merely because it is pre-owned, discounted or expensive. Other statutory cancellation rights may also apply, including where required online information or a review-and-correction opportunity was not provided.

To request a return, email us and we will supply secure return instructions. Return the item and everything supplied with it, taking reasonable care while it is in your possession. We will consider any alleged loss or damage fairly under the applicable law rather than treating packaging, wear or a missing accessory as an automatic forfeiture of statutory rights. The Returns Policy provides further practical steps; if it conflicts with a mandatory legal right, that right prevails.

10. Defective, unsafe or misdescribed goods

Where the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) applies, goods carry the statutory implied warranty of quality. If goods fail to meet the applicable standard within six months of delivery, section 56 permits the consumer to return them without penalty, at the supplier's risk and expense, and choose a repair, replacement or refund. If a repair under that section fails or a further defect is discovered within three months after the repair, the additional remedy provided by that section applies. The rights also apply to qualifying pre-owned goods, assessed in light of their disclosed condition and reasonable expected use.

We may inspect an item and explain our findings, but inspection does not replace your statutory choice of remedy where the requirements are met. A disclosed cosmetic mark or damage caused after delivery is assessed on its facts and does not justify a blanket refusal of all claims. Rights concerning misdescription, unsafe goods and other applicable remedies remain available.

Email info@royalwatch.co.za with the order number, issue and any useful photographs or video. We will explain how to send the item safely for assessment. Please contact us before arranging a third-party repair where reasonably possible; this request does not waive a statutory right.

11. Additional warranties and repairs

Every pre-owned watch comes with an additional six-month Royal Watch Warranty covering manufacturing and mechanical defects, as described in our Royal Watch Warranty. Some watches may also have a remaining manufacturer warranty, where stated or supplied. Accidental damage, misuse, ordinary wear, strap wear, theft, loss and unauthorised modifications are not covered by the additional Royal Watch warranty as detailed in that policy. Pre-owned water resistance is not guaranteed. Work undertaken by Royal Watch carries the further six-month warranty described there.

For a new watch, any applicable manufacturer or additional Royal Watch warranty will be identified in the listing or supplied warranty documentation. The Royal Watch Warranty for pre-owned watches does not imply that every new watch has the same additional warranty. No additional warranty replaces or shortens a CPA remedy. If you have a valid statutory claim, you may use it even if an additional warranty excludes the issue or has expired.

12. Privacy and website use

Royal Watch processes the personal information reasonably needed to manage orders, payments, verification, delivery, customer service, legal obligations and fraud prevention. We may share necessary details with payment, courier, hosting and support providers acting for those purposes, including providers outside South Africa where permitted by law. We take reasonable steps to safeguard information, retain it only as needed for lawful purposes, and respond to applicable requests to access, correct or delete it under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Contact info@royalwatch.co.za for privacy queries or to exercise a data-subject right. Marketing communications will provide a way to opt out where required. Our website may use cookies necessary for operation and other cookies as disclosed through the site's controls or notices.

The Royal Watch name, original photographs, copy and website content are protected by applicable intellectual property law. You may use the site for ordinary shopping but may not republish our original commercial content without permission. Manufacturer marks belong to their respective owners. Do not use the site unlawfully, misrepresent your identity, interfere with its security or transmit malicious code. Third-party links and payment services may have their own terms.

13. Liability and matters beyond our control

Nothing in these terms excludes a consumer right or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for fraud, wilful misconduct and applicable statutory product liability. To the extent permitted by law, a party is not responsible for delay caused by an event beyond its reasonable control if it takes reasonable steps to limit the effects and informs the other party of a material delay. Your statutory rights to cancel or receive a refund remain available where applicable.

14. Complaints and disputes

Email info@royalwatch.co.za or call or WhatsApp 067 987 3866 with your order number and a description of the issue. We will review your complaint and work towards a fair resolution. If it remains unresolved, you may approach the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud or an appropriate consumer authority, or pursue another remedy available by law.

15. Changes and governing law

South African law governs these terms, subject to any mandatory consumer protections applicable to an international transaction. If one clause is unenforceable, the remaining clauses continue to apply so far as possible. We may update these terms on the website with a new effective date. An update does not retrospectively change the terms applicable to an order already concluded unless the law requires it or you agree.
